In a true tragedy became the traffic accident that occurred in the Los Venados Tunnel on the road that connects the municipalities of Calarcá and Cajamarca, on the site 33 people were injured and eight killed after a heavily loaded car rammed several vehicles that were passing through this sector.
As Caracol Radio learned, of the eight deceased, five belonged to the same family that had left Pereira bound for the city of Ibagué.
These people were identified as Cristian Orozco, his wife Luisa Fernanda Monsalve, their two children, Adrián Orozco, 10 months old, Cristopher Orozco, 6 years old and Mrs. Mary Vargas grandmother of the minors.
These people resided in the neighborhood of El Balso de Dosquebradas Risaralda.
Investigation Announced
The Road Safety Agency announced that the respective investigations will be carried out to find out the real cause of this road accident.
The engineer Luis Felipe Lota regretted the tragic accident in which it is preliminarily indicated to have been caused by mechanical failures. For this reason, he announced that the ANSV will start the investigations.
