“La Miniferme du Boisé: A sanctuary for farm animals and a second chance at life”

2023-05-29 04:19:40

La Miniferme du Boisé, a shelter for farm animals in Sainte-Tite, has received a very special new resident. Candy, a ten-year-old porthole cow, arrived only a few days ago directly from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal, in Saint-Hyacinthe.

This is the second time that the shelter has welcomed such a resident.

The porthole affixed to Candy made it possible to collect healthy enzymes in her digestive system using a small pump to administer them to other sick cows.

It was therefore a treatment method for cows without antibiotics and natural. She has also helped save more than 500 cows in this way.

After several years of loyal service, Candy will therefore be entitled to a well-deserved rest at the shelter.

« Above all, we don’t want to make it a circus animal. We want to welcome her and offer her comfort until the end of her life and make her known, because she deserves to be known. »

A quote from Raymonde Cossette, co-owner of the farm

Educational animal shelter

It is possible to visit the farm and meet the many animals that live there. Guided tours are educational in nature. If visitors have learned nothing, the cost of the ticket is refunded, which has never happened, according to the owner.

La Miniferme du Boisée wishes to offer a second chance to animals that might not have had it otherwise.

The two owners thus welcome animals that have been seized for mistreatment or that simply can no longer stay in their current home.

« On [leur] often avoids the slaughterhouse. We help these animals to have a good end of life. »

A quote from Raymonde Cossette, co-owner of the farm

The farm also has nearly 400 residents: it is therefore no longer so small.

After 11 years of activity, the two owners wish to continue as long as possible to offer a sanctuary to animals in need. For Raymonde Cossette, as long as the passion is there, nothing will stop it.
