La Nación / Peña culminates US tour with business meeting in Orlando

The candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for the Colorado Party, Santiago Peña, culminated on Saturday the intense agenda developed for six days in the United States.

The candidate’s tour was marked since Monday, January 23, by important meetings with North American political and academic authorities, among them prominent congressmen, a meeting at the State Department, a lecture at Georgetown University in Washington DC, a meeting with the entourage of Paraguayans residing in that country and their presence for an interview on the prestigious international network CNN.

On Saturday, the Colorado candidate completed his agenda, first at a breakfast with Cuban, Colombian and Chilean businessmen, where he conveyed the opportunities Paraguay presents for investment. Then he had lunch with the mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, with whom they discussed issues such as the possibility of a direct flight between Miami and Asunción, as well as analyzing international cooperation.

The presidential candidate participated in various talks at universities and both political and business institutions.

MEETING WITH AUTHORITIES

Peña began his agenda in Washington and held a meeting with Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) at the aforementioned representative’s residence. Among other points, they discussed the challenge that the countries that make up the OAS have to join efforts to strengthen the integration of nations in order to generate more opportunities for progress for their inhabitants.

In the following days, Peña held very important meetings; among them, a working meeting with Senator Marco Rubio of the United States Republican Party and his presence at the International Republican Institute, a non-governmental organization in the United States.
