The Labor and Social Security Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved this afternoon, in general, the project presented by the Government of Gabriel Boric to avoid the approval in the National Congress of a fifth withdrawal of free disposal from the AFPs, and to promote this mode an alternative with “social criteria”.

The Executive’s initiative was approved with 11 votes in favor and two against and must be voted on in particular tomorrow. Meanwhile, the project promoted by the parliamentarians and that seeks the withdrawal of free disposal, will be voted on in the Constitution Commission during the course of the afternoon.

It should be remembered that the initiative from La Moneda was confirmed by Deputy Marcos Ilabaca, of the Socialist Party.

The alternative way out of the Government to stop a fifth withdrawal

“The Government admits that it has to deliver measures that benefit citizens. Today they are presenting a bill that seeks an alternative measure”, the legislator said.

Although the details of the proposal are still being finalized by ministers Giorgio Jackson (Segpres), Mario Marcel (Treasury), Jeannette Jara (Work) and Antonia Orellana (Woman), It transpired that the measure will allow a transfer to pensions, but the money can only be used in four cases.

The scenarios contemplated by this project consider “the use of withdrawal as a mechanism to pay alimony”, “to finance debts dragged by basic services”, “save it as savings for the DS1 and DS59 subsidy of social housing” and to “pay delinquencies in mortgage loans or other financial debts ”.

“It is about an intermediate point, which we have always said: it is necessary to be able to attend to the problems of citizens, listen to them and also take care of what happens around our economy”, Ilabaca finished.
