Labor Day: the Guinean trade union movement presents its specifications to the government

The Guinean trade union movement celebrated International Labor Day on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the September 28 stadium. This year’s theme is: “Social Dialogue for Sustainable Social Justice”.

On the occasion, the Guinean trade union movement through the Secretary General of the USTG, Abdoulaye Sow presented its specifications which revolves around 21 points of demands to the transitional government.

Reading, Abdoulaye Sow said: “The Guinean Trade Union Movement has the honor to present to the Government and the Guinean Employers its Specifications which revolves around the following points:

1. Taking into account the savings already made following the cleaning up of the Administrative Management File (FGA), the revision of the Monetary Value of the Salary Index Point up to 100% for all categories of Civil Servants, permanent contract workers and pensioners;

2. The commitment of all Contract Teachers and Health Workers to the

Public Service with a view to definitively reducing the glaring shortage of personnel in the Education and Health sector;

3. The increase in transport and accommodation allowances up to 500,000 GNF each;

4. Full application of the new Index Point (977) to all Civil Service pensioners;

5. The valuation of the retirement pension of former workers governed by the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) up to 80% of the last salary;

6. The extension of the retirement bonus from two to twelve months;

7. Monthly and timely payment of retirement pensions;

8. Facilitation of obtaining biometric administrative documents (birth certificate, identity card, passport);

9. The downward revision of the cost of the vehicle registration document of any category and of the driving licence);

10. The operationalization of contributions to the National Social Security Fund (i.e. 18% for the State, 5% for civil servants and 2% for retired civil servants) and the mandatory establishment of the Board of Directors (CA) in order to allow the institution to fully assume its mission of social protection;

11. The opening of internal negotiations in the private and mixed sectors in order to allow the valuation of the Salary;

12. Respect for the rights of workers in public administrative establishments (EPA);

13. The establishment of Collective Branch Agreements in all companies that do not have them and the revision of those that are obsolete;

14.The end of disproportionate measures relating to the enforcement of fines against drivers….

15. The formalization of the activity of “Taxi-motorcycle” for:

– solve the endemic unemployment of unemployed young graduates;

– facilitate mobility in Kaloum and

reduce tensions between police officers and drivers

16. Pairing the technical inspection of vehicles with their repair before delivery;

17.The end of road harassment on urban and interurban axes

18. Reinforcement of security measures for citizens and their property throughout the national territory;

19. The restoration of the Social, Cultural and Environmental Economic Council (CESCE) like the three other countries in Transition (Mali; Burkina Faso, Chad) and the regularization of the administrative situation of all workers in Republican and State Institutions

20. The continuation of consultations in an inclusive manner between all actors in political, economic and social life with a view to preserving justice and peace in our country;

21. Ratification by the Republic of Guinea of ​​Convention C.190 of the International Labor Organization (0.IT) on violence and harassment in the world of work.

Full satisfaction of these specifications is a guarantee of social peace.

Present at the ceremony, the Prime Minister of the Transition, Bernard Goumou, on behalf of the President of the Transition, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya said he took note. And, he reassured the opening very soon of a framework of dialogue with the Guinean trade union movement in order to be able to satisfy their various demands.
