Elad mayor-elect Yehuda Butbul entered this morning (4) to be blessed at the residence of the former Lezion Hagari Yosef who blessed him with a blessing of success in all his deeds for the public and for the residents of the city of Elad.
Botbol, who won the mayor’s office by a significant margin of over 2,000 votes, told the chief rabbi that he came straight from the Zion of Rabbi Yosef zt’al and told him: “I have given you back the city of Elad.”
Botbol’s visit to the chief rabbi’s residence comes a few hours following the overwhelming victory recorded in Elad. Although it seemed that the results would be decided by a close margin, in the end the Shas candidate for mayor won by a huge, double-digit margin of thousands of votes.
Upon learning of the results, thousands of celebrating residents, supporters of Butbul, and Elad mayor-elect Yehuda Butbul, who was received with singing as crowds gathered around him, promised in his victory speech that Elad would embark on a new path in which each of the residents would get what they deserve, and together with the public said Neshem Kol live.
Immediately followingwards, Shas chairman Aryeh Deri called to congratulate Botbul on his overwhelming victory, and praised him for the clean and positive campaign.
From the election results, following counting 100 percent of the votes, apart from the double envelopes, it appears that the Shas candidate won the elections by more than ten percent, with 55.3% of the votes, compared to 44.7% for the outgoing mayor Israel Forosh.
Botbol is also expected to benefit from a friendly city council, following the Shas party won seven seats, the religious Zionism with a seat, Yitzhak Hala with a seat, Agudath Israel and Degal HaTorah each with three seats. Barak Tsaviri and Avi Dayan, allies of Forosh, were left out. to the city council.
