Lack of appreciation? That’s why Lewandowski really wants to leave Bayern

Robert Lewandowski has been pushing his farewell to Barcelona for a few weeks. For the most part, Munich’s negotiations with Erling Haaland and hesitation with a new offer for Lewandowski were blamed for the goalscorer no longer wanting to stay in Munich. Meanwhile, those responsible for Bayern complained that Pini Zahavi had turned the 33-year-old’s head. Apparently, the attacker also wants to change clubs for sporting reasons.

With the far too early knockout in the Champions League against FC Villarreal, Robert Lewandowski had to admit that it won’t be enough for the Ballon d’Or at the upcoming awards either. In the course of the disappointing second half of the season, the Pole increasingly had doubts as to whether he could still achieve his goals in Munich. As the “kicker” editor Georg Holzner tweeted, the top Polish striker is dissatisfied with the way Bayern football is played. As a result, he saw further Champions League titles or winning the Ballon d’Or as a long way off.

Lewandowski and Nagelsmann: Not best friends

Already during the season it became clear that Lewandowski and Julian Nagelsmann have different tactical ideas. For example, the attacker criticized internally that he didn’t get enough space with all the offensive players on the pitch. The “tz” now also has one anecdote uncovered, which reveals the difficult relationship between player and coach. After Nagelsmann gave Lewandowski instructions on how to position himself on crosses, the Pole only revealed that he scored 41 goals and not the coach.

Whether FC Barcelona is the club that Lewandowski can lead to fame, the Ballon d’Or and other Champions League titles can be doubted in view of the last few years. Also, that Xavi can fulfill all of the tactical wishes of the star striker. It’s almost as if the Pole has forgotten that Barcelona are no longer the pinnacle of European football.
