Lack of chewing is bad for health, but implants can help. Understand

According to the professional, when we don’t chew properly, we transfer to the stomach the work that should have been done by the teeth. In addition to slowing down the digestive process, the action overloads the stomach and can lead to symptoms such as gastritis, ulcers and constipation. The recommendation of the Ministry of Health is chew the food 30 times before swallowing.

One of the problems that can cause difficulty when chewing is the lack of one or more teeth. For these patients, the orientation is to seek a dental surgeon for correction, and one of the main alternatives is the dental implant.

Dental implant

The Brazilian company CPMH Digital, for example, has carried out technological dental implants through 3D printing on titanium. The prosthesis, called CustomLIFE, replaces any tooth and serves both patients with missing teeth and those who do not have enough bone in the region to make conventional implants.

Compared to other options available on the national market, which often require time for bone healing, implant rehabilitation in this case is immediate. The entire process, from the initial examinations to the completion of the procedure, takes from one to three months.

In all, 100 surgeries of the type have already been performed in the country. Dental surgeon Frederico Rodger explains that another advantage of the technological procedure is that the grafting process is dispensed with, which can force the patient to wait a long time to obtain a fixed prosthesis, as in traditional treatments — the process can take up to two years.

“As this implant allows the installation of a fixed prosthesis right after the surgery, the patient feels safe to eat properly in a short time, in addition to talking, smiling and socializing normally, without insecurity regarding the smile”, concludes Rodger.
