Ladder bus accident on Tolima highways left four dead and 14 injured

The cans of the vehicle were twisted. On the afternoon of this Friday, a serious accident was recorded on the roads of Chaparral (Tolima). The preliminary balance is four deceased and 14 injured.

“It just happened a traffic accident in which four people died, all male, among them there is a minor. Fourteen people were injured, of which there are 11 in the emergency room of the San Juan Bautista hospital, two of the injured had to be transferred to a care center,” reported the mayor of Chaparral, Hugo Fernando Arce.

The road accident was recorded on the afternoon of this Friday between the paths of San Jorge and the Canyon of the beautiful. Apparently, the driver of the ladder-type vehicle lost control of the steering wheel and went into an abyss.

The injured people, according to the mayor’s report, are the grandson of the driver, a resident of the area and two missionaries of the Catholic Church who were carrying out humanitarian work in the area, one of them is of Mexican nationality.

In videos shared by the community, it can be seen how some citizens helped the wounded by descending the mountain and evacuating them on improvised stretchers. Police and private vehicles transported the injured to the care center.

The official report dictates that approximately 40 people were on the ladder bus.
