Vienna (OTS) – Once again this winter, the entire Lainzer Tiergarten will remain open every day in winter: visitors can reach the popular excursion destination via the Lainzer Tor, Gutenbachtor, Laaber Tor, Pulverstampftor, Nikolaitor and St. Veiter Tor. “The Lainzer Tiergarten is an important recreational area that is particularly important in a big city,” emphasizes Climate City Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky. “And especially now before Christmas you can enjoy a special Christmas atmosphere here in peace and quiet!”
This year too, the Christmas nativity scene in Hermesvilla Park with life-size figures is a nice meeting point for all walkers: The first figures in the nativity scene were made in 1987, and additional figures followed in the following years. Initially, the nativity scene was set up annually at the Vienna Christmas market on the town hall square. In 2002, the extensively restored figures moved to the Lainzer Tiergarten.
Christmas tree sales at Lainzer Tor
The annual Christmas tree sale at Lainzer Tor is also taking place again: It runs until December 24th, daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., while stocks last. “The trees were grown under the best conditions. Thanks to the different sizes of the trees, there is something suitable for every household,” says forestry director Andreas Januskovecz.
Viennese Gusto stand in the Lainzer Tiergarten
The Vienna Gusto stand at Lainzer Tor is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The farm’s organic products and the forestry company’s game specialties can be purchased here. The stand itself is located right at the back of the information center and cannot be missed.
