The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra took part, as the representative of the Algerian President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in the 40th summit of the Orientation Committee of Heads of State of Government of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), organized on Wednesday by videoconference, said a press release from the ministry.
Mr. Lamamra highlighted, in his speech during the work of the summit, the priority given by the President of the Republic to the development of the national economy and the strengthening of economic complementarity, at the regional and continental levels, specifies the same source. .
The Minister emphasized the “positive results achieved within the framework of the economic recovery program initiated by the Algerian President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the national level, as well as the efforts made by Algeria to strengthen its contribution to the realization of the objectives of the African Union Development Agency -NEPAD- by promoting its structuring and development projects”.
“Mr. Lamamra also conveyed the greetings of the Algerian President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his brother, the Rwandan President, Paul Kagame for his far-sighted management as well as his distinguished chairmanship of the work of the Steering Committee during the past period”, welcoming “the plebiscite of the President of the Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, to replace him at the head of this important continental mechanism”, reiterating to him the full support of Algeria in the accomplishment of his missions at the head of NEPAD, towards more achievements in the best interests of the countries and peoples of the continent”.
According to the statement, the work of this summit focused on the evaluation of the progress made in achieving the development objectives of the AU agenda 2063, in addition to the priorities of the current stage, in particular the ways likely to enable African countries to face the economic challenges imposed by the crisis which marks international relations against the background of the conflict in Ukraine.
