A first project wants to allow the lessor to refuse sublettings under certain conditions, in particular if the planned duration of the subletting is greater than two years.
Another aims to facilitate the terms of lease termination. The lessor will no longer have to invoke the urgency of the need, but he might simply assert a concrete need for himself or his relatives. Finally, the communication of rent increases should be facilitated by authorizing the use of the facsimile signature.
Ready to launch a referendum
Asloca sees in these projects, which have yet to be debated in Parliament, a way to weaken the protection of tenants to more easily terminate leases and increase rents.
“If Parliament does not block this dismantling project, we are ready to launch a referendum, even several if necessary”, warns the president of the association and adviser to the States Carlo Sommaruga (PS / GE) in a press release.
