The green comet S/2022E3, which was last seen 50,000 years ago, is passing Mars this week, and this could be humanity’s last chance to see the comet up close.
It is a rare green comet that will pass between the orbits of Earth and Mars for the first time since the Stone Age, and it is about to pass by Mars this week, and it will be possible to see this once-in-a-lifetime cosmic phenomenon from Earth using binoculars.
The comet, called “S / 2022 E3” (ZTF), appears next to the Red Planet during its passage between the orbits of Earth and Mars, on the evening of Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11.
The comet can be seen in the northern hemisphere, and in order to see it, you must stand after sunset, look towards the west, and locate Mars as an orange point of light on the right, as the comet will cross from its side, and it is possible to see the comet by binoculars if it is glowing, but if it is very faint it can See it with a small telescope.
This will be our last chance to see the green comet, before it travels at a speed of about 128,500 miles per hour, away from Earth’s orbit, according to livescience magazine.
