Special memories

Nico Hülkenberg is celebrating his 200th Formula 1 Grand Prix this Sunday and that’s clear. that he presents a special helmet.

Many pictures from his career and his life adorn this gem full of memories, which might help him achieve a good result on Sunday.

Beside yourself with joy

Isack Hadjar celebrated his debut in Formula 1 today and was overjoyed on the pit radio at AlphaTauri after the first free practice session:

“Yep, best day of my life, my friend. That was amazing!”

Things will be even better for him when he gets to drive Red Bull’s world championship car for Sergio Perez in Abu Dhabi.

Start from the very back

AlphaTauri changed everything for Yuki Tsunoda at the Grand Prix in Mexico, which is why the Japanese has to start the race from the back on Sunday.

Tsunoda will receive its fifth combustion unit, Turbo, MGU-H, MGU-K, as well as the third energy storage unit and control electronics. There is also his seventh exhaust unit and a completely new transmission, his fifth.

Things have also changed for other drivers, but they remain unpunished:

Max Verstappen with his sixth exhaust unit and Fernando Alonso his fourth gearbox.

Adjustment phase

It was clear to the drivers that the route in Mexico wasn’t really run in yet.

Lots of slips, braking and minor difficulties, but in the end Max Verstappen was back at the top, but only 95 thousandths ahead of Alexander Albon. The question now is whether he drove the two fast laps with the minimum amount of fuel or not.

It was pleasing for the rookies that they were all able to complete their laps except for Theo Pourchaire. The fastest was Oliver Bearman in 15th place, three tenths slower than his current teammate Nico Hülkenberg in 12th place.

Albon continues to be strong

A good ten minutes before the end of the first free practice session, Alexander Albon in the Williams really made people sit up and take notice.

He crossed the finish line 95 thousandths slower than Max Verstappen and showed once again that the Williams could obviously be a big player on the fast lap this weekend.

Albon is in second place behind Verstappen, followed by Perez in third and Norris in fourth. We currently find Hülkenberg in 16th place.

How do the young drivers actually do?

Overall you can say: actually quite good! Theo Pourchaire and Isack Hadjar are struggling a bit with their Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri, but Oliver Bearman in particular is convincing right away. His fastest time for 13th place is just two tenths slower than that of Nico Hülkenberg in 11th place.

Hadjar is 17th, Jack Doohan in the Alpine 18th, Frederik Vesti in the Mercedes 15th and Pourchaire unfortunately last.

Still a good 25 minutes to drive.
