The 89-year-old sovereign did not feel well on Tuesday, in his Belvedere castle, his residence in Laeken. He was admitted to hospital early this morning in a state of dehydration. He is conscious and his condition is stable. King Albert II will undergo further examinations today.

But according to the latest information from the palace, the news is rather reassuring. The doctors treated his dehydration and the King reacted rather well to the treatment, learned La Libre.

His condition remains closely monitored. “He is currently under surveillance, but the situation is reassuring at this stage,” commented a spokesperson for the Palace at the end of the morning. It is possible that the former sovereign will have to stay several more days in the hospital.

King Philip is going to visit his father

King Philippe has decided to cancel the activity scheduled for Tuesday at the University of Ghent, where he was to discuss sustainable development with students, to visit his father in hospital.
