“Latest Updates on Kuwait’s Parliamentary Elections and Candidates Nomination Process”

KUWAIT CITY: Submission of papers for parliamentary elections continues in Kuwait. In the first four days, 104 candidates, including two women, submitted their nomination papers. Nominations will be accepted from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm at the Election Affairs Department headquarters in Shuwaikh.

With the general elections just weeks away, politicians and tribals are busy selecting candidates and submitting their papers. 18 candidates in the first constituency, 26 in the second constituency, 13 in the third constituency, 19 in the fourth constituency and 28 candidates in the fifth constituency have submitted their papers so far. It is indicated that all the prominent members of the opposition will be in the contest.

The receipt of papers will end on 14th of this month. The Ministry of Health has set up a medical clinic at the headquarters of the Election Affairs Department to provide first aid to candidates, administration staff and media representatives in case of emergency. Fifth Constituency candidate Marzooq Al Habaini has announced that he will run for the post of Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly if he wins the election.
