“Laughing Baby”; a baby born with a rare disease

All parents want their baby’s laughter not to fade. But mother Christina Vertcher is waiting to see the smile on her baby’s face.

It is caused by a rare disease called bilateral macrostomy. It is a condition in which the part of the mouth does not meet properly and stands in two.

Ayla Summer Mucha was born in December 2021 to Christina Wercher and her husband Blaise Mucha. During normal pregnancy, the baby’s mouth is in the stomach
Is properly formed. But Ayla was born with this rare disease. The baby always seems to laugh.

Bilateral macrostomy is a rare disease that affects only 14 people in the world. Even doctors at Flinters Medical Center Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia, were delighted to see Ayla at birth.

Aila’s parents say they do not have accurate information, although doctors hope it can be corrected with surgery.

The parents themselves shared pictures of the child on social media. A video of Ayla preparing was watched by 46 million people. Mother Christina said people are coming out in support and opposition to sharing pictures of the child on social media.
