Launch of the 2022 edition of the national breed competition “Oulmès Zaer”

On Thursday, the town of Oulmès launched the 2022 edition of the national competition for the “Oulmès Zaer” breed under the chairmanship of Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Development rural and water and forest. This competition is part of the development and preservation program for the “Oulmès Zaer” breed, the subject of an agreement signed in May 2021 between the Department of Agriculture and the Moroccan Federation of Cattle Breeders. ‘Oulmès Zaer (FMERBOZ), is he recalled.

Worth a total of 8.1 million DH over 3 years, this agreement focuses in particular on supporting and strengthening the technical and organizational capacities of breeders, genetic improvement and the multiplication of breeding cattle. And also on the creation, supervision and monitoring of nursery units as well as the improvement of breeding conditions through health and prophylactic programs. Without forgetting the development and marketing through the labeling of breed products as well as the promotion of the breed through the organization of competitions and participation in various fairs and events.

For this edition, the Minister proceeded to award prizes to the best breeders participating in the competition. In total, 16 breeders were awarded with a participation of 200 breeders putting in competition 500 head of cattle, it is specified.
