At 29 years old, Dr. Laura Rodríguez has become the youngest Sleep Medicine specialist in Spain and the only otolaryngologist to obtain this accreditation in the Andalusian community. Rodríguez, who belongs to the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the hospitals Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar and Quirónsalud Marbella, claim to feel “great motivation” and encourage their colleagues “to become accredited in Sleep Medicine because it is a useful way to complement and synthesize our specialty in this area.” The certificate obtained by this doctor is obtained through a theoretical-practical exam that is organized annually by the Spanish Federation of Sleep Medicine Societies (FEMES). “The accreditation shows that we have experience in the diagnosis and management of clinical conditions that occur during sleep, that disturb sleep or that are affected by disorders in the sleep-wake cycle,” explains the specialist.
