Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that Moscow was ready to discuss a prisoner exchange with Washington through existing diplomatic channels.
“We are ready to discuss this issue, but within the framework of the channel that was agreed upon between Presidents Putin and Biden,” Lavrov added.
A Russian court on Thursday sentenced American basketball star Britney Grenier to nine years in prison on drug-related charges. Her sentencing might now pave the way for a prisoner swap between the United States and Russia that might include the 31-year-old athlete and Russia arms dealer.
