The American newspaper “New York Post” reported that people have filed lawsuits against the company that produces the drug “Ozempic,” which is primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes, but is widely used as an effective weight-loss drug.

All of the plaintiffs alleged that the doses of the drug caused them to have gastroparesis, a condition that affects the normal spontaneous movement of the muscles in the stomach.
According to the Mayo Clinic website, in normal cases, strong muscle contractions push food through the digestive system. But if a person has gastroparesis, then stomach movement will slow or even stop altogether, preventing the stomach from emptying properly.
According to a lawsuit filed by an unidentified woman, the latter was diagnosed with a “life-threatening intestinal injury,” after using the drug “Ozembek,” which prompted surgeons to perform an 8-hour operation in the hope of repairing her colon.
While the woman managed to survive the “frightening health event,” doctors told her she would be in pain “for the rest of her life, never have a solid bowel movement again,” and would therefore suffer from constant diarrhea.
The woman accuses Novo Nordisk of “failing to properly warn of the risk of gastroparesis in the medical leaflets” accompanying the packages.
It is not clear whether the plaintiff used this medication to lose weight or treat diabetes, and it is not known how long she had been using the medication before her intestines were damaged.
Both the drugs “Ozempic” and “Wegovy” were initially produced for people suffering from type 2 diabetes, before doctors prescribed them to help patients lose weight.
These medications are injected once a week into the stomach, thigh, or arm. They are semaglutide, which helps the pancreas release the appropriate amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high.
While those medications have helped thousands of users lose weight extremely quickly, another lawsuit claims that one WeGovee user spent a week without being able to defecate due to lack of a bowel movement.
The plaintiff was taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with gastroparesis.
For its part, the New York Post attempted to contact Novo Nordisk to comment on the multiple lawsuits.
There is a third lawsuit seen by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, which was filed against the manufacturer of the drug “Mounjaro”, which works in a similar way to the drugs Ozembek and Wigovi.
According to legal documents, the woman who used both Ozembek and Monjaro “was diagnosed with gastroparesis, which caused her to vomit so much that some of her teeth fell out.”
According to the report, at least 9 other lawsuits have been filed against the manufacturer of Mongaro bottles.
In a related context, an American resident in the state of Oklahoma, called Priya Hand, said that she suffered from stomach cramps as a result of using “Ozambik.”
The 23-year-old complainant, a mother of two children, added that she used this medication to lose weight and treat diabetes last May.
She claimed she suffered from nausea, vomiting and constipation before ending up in intensive care on her fifth visit to hospital.
Hand continued: “They told me that my body was so acidic that if I had waited another day, I would not have survived. That was frightening and very painful, as I had never experienced this kind of pain in my entire life, and I do not want to suffer from that again.” never”.
