On the occasion of Pink October, breast cancer screening month, the Toulouse Oncopole presents the new season of its web series “Le chemin d’Emilie”. Entirely shot in Toulouse, the series deals with post-cancer in an educational, funny and committed tone.
To mark the start of Pink October, Toulouse Oncopole launches the second season of its web series entitled “Le chemin d’Emilie”. A short format of three episodes, both educational, informative, funny and engaging.
New season: diagnosis and announcement of the disease
The first season laid the groundwork and had some success, with several awards including the 2021 “coup de coeur” from COM-ENT, the leading organization for communication professionals in France.
For the new season, we find the heroine, Emilie, her best friend, Peggy, always there in case of hard knocks, as well as the trademark of the series: a tone, light and punctuated with pedagogical asides in front of the camera to explain the medical aspects.
After the theme of post-cancer, it is the turn of the diagnosis and the announcement of the disease to be approached, a stage where all the benchmarks waver, where the support of relatives and the accompaniment of doctors are more than necessary.

An “explanation of texts”
“Anatomo-pathology, sentinel lymph node, CT scan, CPR, hormone-dependent, cancer words, complex and numerous, can be disorienting” emphasizes Professor Florence Dalenc, co-responsible for the senology committee.
We wanted to discuss this subject with the example of anatomopathology, an essential discipline since the beginnings of oncology and which is increasingly so with personalized medicine.

Patients participated in writing the script
The writing, casting and production have once again been entrusted to director Martin Le Gall, who has surrounded himself with the same production team and new actors, new characters oblige. The senology committee and the communication team of the Oncopole, as well as four patients participated in writing the script.
A pathologist, a healthcare manager and a patient took part in didactic asides for each of the three episodes.

The Toulouse Oncopole IUCT supports more than 2,800 women each year and contributes to the development of personalized medicine. The establishment is one of the top 5 of the best French establishments in the Palmarès Le Point, a ranking maintained since 2017.
