The federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded a $2 million grant to the Erie centers, which, in the words of its president, Dr. Lee Francis, aim to promote greater access to virtual care services. According to Francis, the intention of virtual medicine is to eliminate the obstacles that prevent a person from attending an in-person appointment.
