The Los Angeles Lakers surprised the NBA this Saturday night when LeBron James no longer appeared as ruled out on his injury report, being labeled “doubtful” for the game against the Chicago Bulls.

James has missed the last 13 Lakers games due to a tendon injury in his right foot and although he would be scheduled to play the last three games of the 2022-23 season, we may see him sooner.

The Lakers are 8-5 in James’ absence, posting a record .500 record (37-37) for the first time this season and climbing to eighth in the Western Conference standings.

James has missed 27 games this season, averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game.

“James is progressing normally”Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. “He’s just doing the work that needs to be done so he can be ready”he added.

LeBron, for his part, raised his voice on Thursday when the news of his return for the final stretch of the season came out in the press: “There was no medical evaluation today and there is no date for my return. I just work long hours a day to give myself a chance to come back stronger.”
