Leclerc wins Formula 1 Grand Prix de France

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc takes pole position for the French Grand Prix in the Formula 1 World Championship.

Leclerc beat Dutchman Max Verstappen, the Red Bull driver and the world champion, during the official test of the Tour de France on Saturday.

Leclerc, winner of the last race in Austria, set the fastest lap in one minute 33.872 seconds on Paul Ricard’s 5.842 km track.

Verstappen was second, 0.304 seconds behind Leclerc, and his Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, was third.

Spaniard Carlos Sainz, another Ferrari driver, starts the race from the last row, following exceeding the number of power unit changes allowed in the season.
