After 17 years in the Chamber, she decided to concentrate fully on Dendermonde, where she will become mayor from January.
Leen Dierick, 45, has been an alderman in this East Flanders town since the 2000 elections. She has been the first alderman since 2007 and from January 1 she will succeed Piet Buyse as mayor. His father Maurits Dierick was also mayor of Dendermonde.
Ms. Dierick has been a member of the Chamber since 2007. She is mainly active within the Energy and Economy committees.
