Anyone who listened to the ÖVP last June could almost think that the party was accusing Leonore Gewessler (Greens) of a coup. The Environment Minister voted for the renaturation regulation in the EU Council – against the will of the People’s Party. Chancellor Karl Nehammer identified a “breach of the law and the constitution”, initiated a complaint for abuse of office and announced an action for annulment before the European Court of Justice.
