Spurs head coach since 1996, Gregg Popovich was inducted into the hall of basketball legends tonight. As passionate as he is brilliant, the coach looked back on his countless years at the head of the Texas franchise with which he won the NBA championship 5 times.

Alongside his big 3: Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan, Gregg Popovich delivered his induction speech into the pantheon of American basketball, making him a definitive basketball legend. Intractable coach, tough and particularly volcanic on the bench, Popovich returned to the highlights of his career, in particular the arrival of a certain… Manu Ginobili in his team:

“Pop, I am Manu, this is what I do.”

Particularly moved, Coach Pop particularly thanked his family and the entire city of San Antonio for this accomplishment:

But the moral of this great man’s speech comes across like any good story at the end. Coach Pop recalls that any victory, any defeat will never erase or replace the bonds woven during these epics:

“All those wins and losses fade away, but those relationships stick with you forever.”

A sacred monster, raised to the height of legend, if indeed it still had to be proven. Deeply human, deeply Popovich. A big moment.
