At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Lenovo unveiled the Yoga Tab Gen 2 and Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2, two flagship Android tablets featuring up to 4K displays, flagship silicon, and a commitment to seven major OS upgrades through Android 24 and security patches until 2033, launching this September starting at $729.99.
The tablet market has long suffered from a software support problem. While desktop operating systems receive decade-long lifecycles, mobile slates typically face obsolescence within three years. Lenovo is aggressively challenging that norm.
Hardware Architecture and Display Breakdown
Under the hood, the two models target distinctly different creator workflows. The Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 anchors the high end. It runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform equipped with an Oryon CPU, paired with 12GB to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of expandable storage, as reported by Android Authority.
Visual fidelity on the Plus model is driven by a 13-inch 4K “PureSight Pro” display. It boasts a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,100 nits. Powering this substantial panel requires a massive 12,700mAh battery supporting 68W fast charging.
Meanwhile, the standard Yoga Tab Gen 2 scales down slightly while retaining heavy computing muscle. Android Authority notes it utilizes MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s chipset, which effectively mirrors last year’s Dimensity 9400 Plus flagship SoC. It pairs this processor with an 11.1-inch 4K display maintaining the same 144Hz refresh rate and 1,100 nits of peak brightness found on its larger sibling. Energy management relies on an 11,000mAh battery, also backed by 68W charging.
Peripherals and Ecosystem Integration
Hardware power means little without precise input mechanisms for digital artists and mobile professionals. Lenovo is shipping both slates with optional productivity accessories. The Yoga Tab Gen 2 series pairs with a smart pen—the Tab Pen Pro 2—that magnetically attaches to the frame for storage, alongside a detachable 2-in-1 keyboard attachment for text-heavy workloads.
Audio hardware has also received careful engineering. The Plus model features a six-speaker array, whereas the standard variant utilizes a four-speaker configuration. Both units include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 data speeds, establishing a robust peripheral baseline for modern creative workflows.
