DSV Leoben chairman Mario Bichler, who was targeted by the judiciary due to alleged fraud, has rejected the allegations. There are neither duplicate player contracts nor black money accounts, said Bichler in the presence of two lawyers in an interview with the “Kleine Zeitung” (Sunday). The presumption of innocence applies to Bichler and another 19 people suspected by the public prosecutor in connection with commercial investment fraud.

The focus of the investigation, which led to house searches at several locations in mid-December, is the second division football team’s collaboration with a financial service provider called “Paraiba” and its successor company “Trillant”. Bichler states that he personally and the club have nothing to do with them. The club chairman, who has been in office since February 2022, also denies the existence of slush funds. “In my time there are no double player contracts and no black money accounts of any kind,” said Bichler and added. “We do not believe the allegations are justified and we will explain that.”
