Once again, Les Cowboys Fringants set legs on fire and love in hearts this Thursday evening, at the International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

From the first notes, the emotion of the audience in love with the Cowboys was palpable. Illuminated in blue, the show began with Down heregently, close-up of Marie-Annick Lépine, visibly emotional, on the violin.

“I cling to my feet down here,” sang Karl Tremblay.

Then, the compact crowd came alive from the second song, Bye Bye Loulike a solidarity dance of “I love you”.

Between emotions and celebration, the show ended a little after 11 p.m. on Shooting Starsilluminated by thousands of telephones, preceded earlier by a surprising nod to Metallica who was in Montreal last weekend, as well as the bass take by Jérôme’s son, Théodore, on As long as we have love.

You could feel all the recognition from the crowd to see his band chouchou, who had to cancel several shows this summer, including the one on Friday August 18 at the Petite Nation en fête festival in Thurso, due to the cancer treatments that the singer, Karl Tremblay is going through.

“Cancer affects everyone,” says Mélissa, a spectator and Cowboys fan since their debut. We think of our aunt, our friend, our brother who left us … It reminds us that we have to take advantage of it now!”

Surf the wave

The wave of love and empathy that united some 90,000 people at the Festival d’été de Québec, exactly one month ago, continued internationally, a little less strong in number, but also felt on the site of the 40th Stage | Loto-Quebec.

Towards the middle of the show, the 4 cowboys sat around a fire among friends to play autumn tune, which the crowd sang like a huge karaoke. Then sounded the mythical on my shoulder, once again filled with emotions. “Tonight we’re afraid of riiieeennn!!” Karl shouted.

“This band has followed me through all the hardships of my life, confides Mélissa again. I’ve seen them a hundred times, they’ve been a decompressor. A balm. To think that one day they will have to stop… But I am 100% behind them.

In the first part, Sara Dufour once again delivered a show rock and roll with country touches, setting the mood for the arrival of the Cowboys. She has also announced the release of an album soon. “Every year is my biggest year!” exclaimed the musician, visibly on a roll.

Solidarity

It’s been a tough summer for Les Cowboys Fringants, who “couldn’t have guessed the future eight months ago when festivals were added to [leur] schedule,” wrote Marie-Annick Lépine in a message posted on her social networks earlier this week. The band’s ‘mom’ said she was ‘sorry’, on behalf of all of the band members, for the cancellation of several shows this summer, making the show Thursday night, where fans felt privileged to see them perform.

Despite the pitfalls, as a true warrior, Karl Tremblay was present, giving his 100% as soon as he entered the stage. Despite some signs of fatigue during the show, he delivered a great performance.

Thursday night, maybe it wasn’t America crying, but almost. Because all of Quebec is behind the singer of the Cowboys. Whether he sits down, takes a break, drinks water or eats his lunch on stage, the crowd of loyal fans will follow him. That of the International Hot Air Balloon once again proved it.
