“Let nothing be missing, not even drink”: The chat discussion that triggered the delivery murder

Impact caused on December 28 the murder of a young delivery man, who was attacked with a knife by an irate customer in the hall of a building.

Herberth, a 19-year-old Venezuelan who had been in Chile for 1 year and 7 months, came to the building located on José Pedro Alessandri street, in Ñuñoa, to deliver a food order to Tomás Aguirre, who he got mad because he was 13 minutes late.

24 hours exclusively accessed the images from the security cameras of the enclosure and a chat discussion between the victim and the perpetrator, minutes before the crime.

Herberth contacted his client to explain the reason for his delay, which was due to an inspection during his route.

The discussion:

Herberth: “My friend, I had a problem because they were inspecting next to the mall.”

Tomás: “It’s not my fault, where is my order?”

Herberth: “I have your order, I know it’s not your fault.”

Tomás: “Don’t miss anything, not even drinks, I’ll be waiting downstairs.”

Herberth: “And if the drink is missing, what? Are you threatening? I’m not a thief, I told you that I’m going to take your order and that I have it.”

Tomás: “I paid for the drink, if it’s not there it would be a robbery I work in the PDI, so I hope everything comes to its place, moreover being inspected.”
