In La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), skipper Romain Bouillard contacted the association Let’s take down the Moon to offer children with cancer the opportunity to board his boat, reports France Blue La Rochelle.

“The idea is to take a sea trip with them! We leave the port of La Rochelle, we hoist the sails and we all enjoy together! »he rejoiced to our colleagues.

For children who cannot move around, a robot has been installed on the pontoon. Its head is a screen which allows it to communicate remotely with the “ children stuck in their hospital rooms.

18 children from Poitiers, Nantes and La Rochelle

In total, 18 children followed for pediatric cancers or long-term illnesses at the Poitiers University Hospital, the Nantes University Hospital and the La Rochelle-Ré-Aunis hospital group are thus embarked on the adventure.

L’association Let’s take down the moon pour Gaspard is a 1901 law association created in the summer of 2021 to help Gaspard, a little boy with an infiltrating glioma of the brain stem, a very invasive form of brain cancer.

The little boy “has gone to join the stars” explains the association. But it remains present for all the other children, to improve their quality of life on a daily basis.
