Lewis Hamilton, “I understand the efforts of a small F1 team” in the struggle in 2022[F1-Gate.com]

Lewis Hamilton says Mercedes F1’s extremely challenging 2022 F1 season has shown the extent of its relentless efforts to improve the fortunes of its smaller team.

Mercedes has closed out the 2022 F1 season as the third-best team on the grid, but crews are working hard to overcome porpoise and complex aerodynamic issues caused by the ground effect design they adopted for the W13. It was a very difficult year working on

Improvements took hold in the second half of the season and Mercedes F1 even managed to give George Russell its only victory of the year.

But beyond Mercedes F1’s own battle to improve its fortunes, the 2022 F1 season has made Lewis Hamilton more aware of what F1’s smaller teams have endured year after year.

Lewis Hamilton said: “It really allowed me to understand how great all the other teams are who are trying to do the same thing, who have the same intentions, who are trying to be better, who are fighting for something. told Channel 4.

“They’ve been through a tough time obviously making a car that can’t fight at the front, so it’s pretty cool to be a part of that and witness it.”

Lewis Hamilton admits he has always been very interested in the results of McLaren, the team where all seven Formula 1 world champions started.

“I like watching McLaren, I always check where they are because that’s where I start,” said Lewis Hamilton.

“Even if they are my rivals, I always wish them success.”

“There will be days when they drop down and I’ll be sad for them because they were the first team to do the simulation round and drive the car for the first time.”

“I wish them well and hope they have a better year next year.”
