Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has a clear opinion when it comes to Susie Wolff’s criminal complaint against the FIA. The Mercedes driver supports the Scot’s plan.
When the FIA opened an investigation in December 2023 to investigate a possible conflict of interest between Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff and his wife Susie Wolff, there was great excitement. Because Susie Wolff has decided to file a criminal complaint against the FIA. As she reported on social media, she took the appropriate steps on March 4 in France.
She gets support from Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion, who is still chasing points for Toto Wolff’s Mercedes team this year, said in the paddock in Melbourne: “First of all, I’m incredibly proud of Susie. She is so brave and stands up for great values. She is a real leader.”
“In a world where people are often silenced, she sends such a great message by fighting back. I love that she takes the whole thing beyond the boundaries of this world, because in this sport and within the FIA you don’t take responsibility. Things happen behind closed doors, there is no transparency. And I think the fans need this. How else can you trust sport?” said the Brit plainly.
He hoped for a positive effect, especially for women in the sport, which is still dominated by men, added Hamilton, who also made it clear when asked: FIA boss Mohammed Ben Sulayem never had his support.
