Lexus is developing an electric car with a fake manual transmission and clutch

Lexus is developing a manual transmission for electric vehicles, writes Evo.

The company is testing the Lexus UX 300e electric crossover with a similar box. It is equipped with a third pedal that simulates a clutch and a rocker that is responsible for “shifting” gears.

This system has nothing to do with real mechanics. The shift knob and clutch have nothing to do with the electric box. A person can switch the gearbox and depress the clutch, but apart from changing the scale of virtual revolutions on the dashboard, nothing changes in the car. [Evo]
