LG passes 1 TBps data transmission test (that’s huge)

The performance took place at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin, Germany, over a distance of 320 meters outdoors, and on frequency bands between 155 and 175 GHz. For comparison, the highest theoretical frequency range for 5G is 45.5-52.6 GHz, but that’s not even exploited yet. The 5G currently marketed in France is more in the 3.5 GHz band.

LG had already run a 6G test a year ago, once more achieving speeds of 1 TBps, but over a more limited distance of 100 meters, still outdoors.

6G uses ultra-wideband frequencies, with a relatively short range. This means that it may experience power loss from transmit to receive. LG co-developed an amplifier to increase transmission power and a low-noise amplifier receiver to improve incoming signal quality.
