“Formative personality and humanitarian”

St.Pölten (OTS) – “SOS Children’s Villages Honorary President Helmut Kutin was a formative personality and further developed and expanded the SOS Children’s Villages. He was a humanitarian, gave the children a voice and, above all, was a companion to the SOS Children’s Village Hinterbrühl,” said State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner on the occasion of Kutin’s death. In 2008 he received the “Great Golden Medal of Honor for Services to the Federal State of Lower Austria”.

Kutin was born in Bolzano in 1941, and after the death of his mother he was sent to the SOS Children’s Village Imst as an orphan in 1953. In 1967 he began working for SOS Children’s Villages International and was primarily involved in the Asian region. He later became, among other things, president of SOS Children’s Villages International and chairman of the supervisory board of SOS Children’s Villages Austria.
