Libya: Bashagha introduces expanded government

The Libyan Prime Minister-designate by Parliament, Fathi Bashagha, presented his new government formation to Parliament, which met yesterday, in the city of Tobruk.
According to some media platforms, the deputies were unable to reach the quorum eligible to vote, with the presence of only 70 deputies, while the quorum reached 120 members.
And the Libyan News Agency published the government lineup that Bashagha presented to the deputies yesterday.
The formation included 30 ministerial portfolios, 8 state ministers, in addition to two deputy prime ministers, Ali al-Qatrani from the east of the country, while the position of deputy from the south remained vacant.
According to the published lineup, Pashaga assigned the foreign affairs portfolio to Dr. Hafez Kaddour, and the defense to the second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmid Houma, while the Ministry of Interior was assigned to Brigadier General Issam Abu Zariba from the city of Zawiya.
The Ministry of Finance was assigned to Osama Hammad, Justice to Khaled Abd Rabbo, and Health to former Minister of Education Othman Abdel Jalil, while the Ministry of Local Government came to the share of Sami Al-Dhawi.
The Libyans are waiting for the House of Representatives to act with the formed government, and the possibility of holding a session with a full quorum in order to grant confidence.
