Lidl Belgium Recalls Snack Day Bio Organic Vegetable Crisps for High Acrylamide Levels: What You Need to Know

Lidl Belgium is recalling vegetable crisps from its Snack Day Bio Organic brand on the order of its supplier. They would contain too high acrylamide, a toxic substance in large quantities.

These are organic vegetable crisps in foil packaging per hundred grams that were sold between May 10, 2023 and August 9, 2023. The shelf life of the product is at least November 18, 2023.

Lidl Belgium asks its customers not to consume the crisps and to bring the bags back to the point of sale. Even without presentation of the receipt, the product will then be refunded. For information about emer, consumers can contact Lidl customer services on 0032 (0)2 320 6000.

According to the FASFC, acrylamide is a chemical substance that is formed during the heating of foods rich in carbohydrates, such as crisps. In general, this is not a problem. But the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) classifies this substance as “probably carcinogenic” at very high doses. The European Union therefore imposes measures on producers that limit the quantity of acrylamide.
