Liga de Quito finished its search and already has a new coach.

On Monday, January 8, it was confirmed that the new coach of League of Quito and Luis Zubeldía’s replacement would be Josep Alcácer. The Spaniard arrives in Ecuador with a shoot in the lower divisions of Spain. The club chose this profile over other candidates to take the bench.

The press reported that a 44-year-old Spaniard would be the next coach of the Quito League. Mr OFFSIDER confirms that the agreement between Liga de Quito and Josep Alcácer is total. The Spanish coach was without a team in 2024.

The Spaniard coached Granada in Spain as technical assistant to Aitor Karanka in 2022. His last experience as a coach was with Alcorcón B of the Second Division of Spain.

In his career he has been assistant coach of teams such as Elche, Getafe, Sporting Gijón and Villarreal. The decision of the new direction for the Quito League has generated significant uncertainty in its fans, since 2024 is presented as a very important year for the ‘Albo’ team.

Luis Zubeldía, champion of the LigaPro and Copa Sudamericana 2023, left the club due to the departure of Esteban Paz from the team. Currently Isaac Álvarez, president of the club, and Adrián Gabbarini make the sporting decisions.

His cycle at the ‘King’ ends with a Copa Sudamericana and the first LigaPro in his history.
