Linda Mahoney is the founder and partner of BetterHomes, one of the leading real estate agencies in the UAE, headquartered in Dubai.
After working as a nurse, she got into the real estate business with no previous experience, but with strong motivation: “I had two children and I had to make a decision“, she says.
In 1986, Linda launched BetterHomes in his living room. “Dubai was the right place at the right time, not just for me, but for many people“, she tells Euronews. At the time, more and more expats were moving to Dubai and the demand for housing increased, so Linda moved her office into a garage and hired her first employee.
Linda’s team has continued to grow ever since. Incomes are also increasing at the same rate as rental demand. “When the government announced market sales it changed everything, that’s when we really grew“, recalls Linda.
Linda’s son, Ryan Mahoney, joined her and has been helping her for 20 years to structure the company’s growth. “My son and I complement each other. I’m a human person, he’s a strategist“, Dit Linda.
Today, BetterHomes has more than 450 employees. “We have one employee who has been with us for 23 years, another for 22 years, and many others for 15 years. There is nothing better than a family business where harmony reigns“, assure Linda.
