French people who have not installed the Linky meter will be penalized

The sum will be 8.48 euros to be paid every two months and this from January 1, 2023. Indeed, this electric meter reading will become chargeable for people who do not have a Linky meter and who have not sent Enedis a self-reading of the last 12 months, “despite sending several written communications and appeals”, said the manager this Thursday, December 15. These individuals “will be charged reading fees relating to the specific management of the reading of old generation meters”, underlined Enedis. These fees “are of course stopped in the event of the installation of a Linky meter”. This Linky meter says ” communicant » transmits remote information almost in real time, without the customer being present.

Thus, we understand that even if customers are not equipped with a Linky meter, “it is up to them to provide us with a self-report at least once a year”, to comply with the rules of the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), informs the company Enedis. To know, l’installation massive Linky meters ended at the end of 2021. Enedis then continued its deployment. Thereby, 1 million meters were installed in 2022, representing 36.4 million households.
