France could run out of electricity this winter
In a forum given to Le Monde, four experts mentioned an idea that could lower the French electricity bill. And this, thanks to their Linky meter.
As our colleagues indicate, France could very well run out of electricity in the coming months. Because of the gas crisis, the war in Ukraine and the problems encountered with its nuclear fleet, the country is likely to experience difficult times.
In this forum, the experts announced: “Twenty-nine of our nuclear reactors out of 56 are shut down (…) Admittedly, we have developed wind power. But its availability drops to 5% in the event of light winds”.
Before adding: “And after 7 p.m. in winter, the solar no longer produces…”. Experts thus reveal that France risks run out of electricity next winter. They therefore worked on a solution to overcome this concern.
As they indicated to Le Monde, they offer the French to lower their consumption during peak hours. But that’s not all. The homes that pay attention to their electricityvia the Linky counter, will be remunerated.
The experts explained: “France has deployed the most “intelligent” electricity network in the world, according to the Smart Grid Index 2021, with in particular its 36 million Linky meters. You have to use it ».

They then came up with the following idea: “Let us offer all French people the possibility of signing a contract. The latter will pay them if they reduce their consumption during consumption peaks. The Linky meter makes this measurement technically feasible”.
The experts also revealed to Le Monde: “Particularly through its ability to trace the reality of deletion. And more effective: adapted to local situations and for a short time, the electricity consumption can be modulated« .

“They will therefore be able to send consumers the load shedding signal at the most appropriate times. These consumers will be remunerated. And this, if they lower their consumption ».
They also told our colleagues around the world : “They will be alerted a few hours in advance to postpone certain uses. And devices will be cut off automatically. Thanks to the installation of an erasure unit ».
One thing is certain, many French people could clearly validate this new trick to save money. This will also allow refractory residents to install a Linky meter in their homes.
It remains to be seen whether this measure will see the light of day in the lives of the French in a few months. Finally, the experts warned: “Our country is going through an energy crisis of a magnitude greater than that of the oil shock of 1973”.
