The favorites from Linz-Steg have taken the lead in the “Best of five” final series of the Austrian Volley League (AVL). The Upper Austrians won game one once morest VB NÖ Sokol/Post on Sunday 3-0 (22 22 14). The series will be continued in Vienna on Thursday and once more in Linz on the following Sunday.
The match between the defending champions from Linz and the record champions was an exciting game for two sets. The Upper Austrians were in the lead for almost the entire season, but Sokol/Post kept the game tight for long stretches with a lot of fighting spirit. Only in the third set did the class of the women from Linz clearly prevail. Linz/Steg won the sixth duel in a row with Sokol/Post and has been undefeated in their own hall for a year.
