Organizers France Football released the 30-man shortlist for this year’s award on Friday. Last year, Messi made history by winning the Balendio for the seventh time. Earlier, Messi had achieved the feat in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2019.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo has been shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or award since 2005. Ronaldo has won the award five times.
