With a beaming smile on her lips, Lisa Binder leads the way through the brand new cat house at the Freistadt animal shelter. “They simply have more space now – and enjoy lying in the sun on the balconies,” says the 28-year-old, obviously happy with her protégés. There is space for up to 50 cats in the bright rooms – from whining babies who have to be bottle-fed to elderly cat ladies and gentlemen.
