Lithuanian Teacher Awards 2024: Winners Announced in Kaunas | Lrytas.lt

Kaunas, Lithuania – The sixth annual Lietuvos Mokytojas (“Lithuanian Teacher”) awards ceremony took place Friday evening at Vytauto Didžiojo University (VDU), recognizing ten exceptional educators for their dedication and impact. The awards, hosted by the news portal Lrytas, saw nearly 400,000 votes cast over three weeks, with 325 teachers nominated from across Lithuania, marking a record level of participation according to Lrytas.

The event, which honored teachers across 18 different categories, drew a distinguished audience including education leaders, scientists, business representatives, politicians, and public figures as reported by Lrytas.lt. This year’s awards also boasted an impressive prize fund, thanks to significant contributions from partners.

Jūratė Dačkauskienė, a pre-school teacher at the Mažeikių lopšelis-darželis “Buratinas,” was named Pre-School Teacher of the Year, recognized by both the judging panel and public vote. Her prize was provided by the Robotics Academy and the Science and Innovation Popularization Center “Mokslo sala.” Rasa Kazakevičienė, a primary school teacher at the Kauno rajono Akademijos mokyklos-darželis “Gilė,” received the award for Primary School Teacher of the Year, also receiving gifts from the Robotics Academy and “Mokslo sala,” along with a 100 euro gift voucher and free educational sessions on vision health for her class from Optometrijos centras.

Žaneta Motuzienė, an English language teacher at Rokiškio Juozo Tūbelio progimnazija, was honored as the Main Education Teacher of the Year. She also received prizes from the Science and Innovation Popularization Center “Mokslo sala.” The award for Secondary Education (gymnasium) Teacher of the Year was announced by Laura Masiliauskaitė, head of the organization “Švietimas numeris vienas.”

The Lietuvos Mokytojas awards, organized by UAB Lrytas, aim to highlight the vital role teachers play in Lithuanian society and provide a platform to recognize their contributions as detailed on the project website.
