With more than an hour of delay, the plenary session of Congress questions the president of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torreswho must answer seven questions about the deaths during the social protests and the disputed curfew that the government ordered in Lima and Callao on April 5.

The motion against the chief of staff was promoted by congresswoman Flor Pablo (Purple Party) with the support of legislators from Avanza País, Together for Peru, Somos Perú, Acción Popular, Fuerza Popular, Alianza para el Progreso, Popular Renewal and the congressmen Carlos Anderson (ungrouped) and Susel Paredes (Purple Party).

The interpellation motion includes questions about the deaths in Junín, Huánuco and Ica during the transporters’ strike. Torres must also explain why President Pedro Castillo did not comply with annulling the rule on the curfew, despite the fact that he announced it before Congress.
