The two teams crossed paths at the end of the classic phase of the championship, Anderlecht blowing the last accessit for the Champions Playoffs from the hands of Ghent. For its part, Anderlecht is waiting for its first title for five years (2017 championship under René Weiler). It would be a coronation for Vincent Kompany in his pilgrimage to bring the Mauve house back to the top of Belgian football.
